Also be sure that your battery is not below 85% if not you could get your device turned off in the middle of the firmware update.
See that all your security suites like antivirus and firewalls are disabled on your computer.

Step 1: Download the Unlock Root along with .android and extract it in your computer. Usually it gets extracted to C:\Documents and settings\<Your Computer name> if you are using windows XP else C:\Users\<Your Computer name> if you are using windows 7.
Be sure your .android rar is extracted in the above said path.
Step 2: Connect your Micromax A57 Ninja 3 to your computer with the help of the original USB cable provided in the sales package at the time of purchase. MAke sure USB debugging is ON.
If USB debugging is OFF, Go to Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB Debugging and enable it.
Step 3: After your phone is connected go to the folder where you first extracted .android
and remeber the path.
Step 4: Open Command Prompt (Win+R>cmd) and navigate to the extracted folder
For windows XP type this in command prompt “CD C:\Documents and settings\<Your Computer name>\.android” If you are using Windows 7 then type “CD C:\Users\<Your Computer name>\.android”
Step 5: Now write “adb devices” (Without “”) in the command prompt.
Step 6: It will show Micromax A56 or Micromax A57. Don’ worry both are same. And if it shows Micromax A57 then its good.
Step 7: Now open Unlock Root (“Unlockroot.exe”) which you have downloaded in the first step and click on “Root” button.

Step 8: You need to give “Yes” for confirmation and wait for few minutes to root your Micromax A57 Ninja 3. Your mobile will reboot automatically and then your device is rooted.

I.  BEFORE YOU BEGIN

1.  Back up everything you feel is important before you begin.
2.  Make sure you have charged your device to 75% or more before you begin.

II.  NECESSARY DOWNLOADS

1.  update.zip [File attached to this post]
2.  unroot.zip [File attached to this post]

III.  ROOTING THE GALAXY Y DUOS

1.  Connect your device to your PC using a microUSB cable and copy the update.zip file you downloaded above to your SD card (Do not put it into any subfolders, just the main folder so the path is sdcard/update.zip).
2.  Power down your device and put it into recovery mode.  To do this, press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power keys until you see the Samsung Galaxy Y logo and let them go after that.
3.  Use the Volume buttons to highlight “select update.zip from sdcard” and press the home button to select it.
4.  On the next screen, select update.zip, and then select Yes on the next screen.
5.  Once the flashing is done, go back to the main menu and reboot your device.
That’s it!  Your Galaxy Y Duos is now rooted!
